Indigo blueprint: orchestrating a craft-driven identity

The 2022 Quai 54 World Streetball Championship marked a strategic pivot toward a research-led visual system. My role was to author the primary Visual Center that fed the entire ecosystem. More than just a mood board, I established comprehensive Design Story guidelines that functioned as the blueprint across all touchpoints. These directives were engineered to support three main pillars of the brand’s output:

  • Event promotional assets: Strategic visuals designed to drive the sell-out of 10,000 seats at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

  • Event & arena design: A spatial identity engineered to create a monumental experience for both physical and remote global audiences.

  • Product design collaboration: Transmitting the core visual DNA to the Jordan Brand teams to create footwear and apparel that allows fans worldwide to experience the event’s narrative.

The source material: from page to pitch

The foundation for the 2022 Design Story was born from my editorial design work on the Ndop publication, a seminal document on Bamileke textile art curated by Ly Dumas. The indigo textures and geometric motifs featured in the book provided a primary source code.

Jordan x Quai 54 collaboration:
systemic product alignment

As lead art director, I issued design direction to the Jordan Brand teams, defining the visual framework for the 2022 capsule. By providing this source code, I ensured that the resulting footwear and apparel were not merely inspired by the event, but were an extension of the Design Story. This collaborative loop involved reviewing and fine-tuning product proposals to achieve a synchronized ecosystem where high-performance product met heritage-driven art direction.

Event & arena design:
architectural scale

The arena design at the Eiffel Tower served as the primary physical manifestation of the 2022 Design Story. My objective was to transform the iconic Parisian site into a sporting environment that felt connected to the Indigo narrative. This required scaling the graphic assets —translating motifs from the initial blueprint onto the canvas of the court and bleachers. By engineering a spatial identity that prioritized visual impact for both the 10,000 live spectators and the global remote audience, the arena became a backdrop where sports, entertainment, and heritage converged at an architectural scale.
